Dear Contributor,

Thank you for your interest in presenting at the 18th International Hydrocolloids Conference, Mar 31 – Apr 2, 2026, in Tokyo, Japan. Please follow the instructions below to submit your abstract for consideration.

Submission Guidelines

Please prepare your abstract in MS Word .docx format, Arial 12 pt font. Your abstract should include the following elements:

1. Abstract Title: 16 pt Bolded font. A concise title that reflects the research or presentation topic. The title should be as brief as possible but long enough to indicate clearly the nature of the study. Capitalize the first letter of the first word ONLY.
2. Authors: List all contributing authors as Firstname or initials, Lastname.
3. Affiliation: Include institutional affiliations for each author, City, State/Province (if applicable) and Country, using a superscripted numbering, in italics.
4. Email Contact: Please provide a valid email address for the corresponding author (usually the presenting author, if otherwise please indicate both presenting author and corresponding author), in italics.
5. Abstract Body: A summary of your research or presentation (typically 500 words, can include one figure or table). Single-spaced. Abstracts should state briefly and clearly the purpose, methods, and results, emphasizing new and important aspects of the study and conclusions that are drawn from them.
6. Conference Theme: Indicate the most relevant conference theme from the topics listed at https://18ihc.org
7. Presentation Type: Indicate whether your preferred format is an oral presentation or a poster presentation. The Program Committee will make the final decision once all abstracts have been received.

Submission Process

• Ensure that your abstract follows the formatting requirements outlined above. A template is attached.
• Name the file as all author lastnames, e.g., Cui Goff.docx. If more than one abstract with the same authors, then Cui Goff 2.docx. Submit your abstract as a Word document attachment via email to ihcabstracts@gmail.com no later than Nov. 15, 2025. Subject line should be the same as the file name, e.g., Cui Goff.
• You will receive a confirmation email upon successful submission.

Review & Acceptance

Abstracts will be reviewed by the 18^th IHC organizing committee as received. Authors will be notified within approximately two weeks after submission that their paper has been accepted, to be completed by Nov. 30, 2025. The presentation format will be confirmed once all abstracts have been received, no later than Dec. 31, 2025.

All Presenters must be registered for the conference by Jan. 31, 2026, or their abstract will be removed.

The final program will be available by Feb. 28, 2026.
